Just How Waterproof is Your Watch?

Water resistant watch
Water-Resistant Watch for Him

“How waterproof is my watch?” is a very common question that we get asked here at Boundless Collections. And the short answer is … IT’S NOT!!!
There isn’t a watch on earth that can withstand the absolute pressure of mother nature and her deepest ocean trenches. No, watches are, regardless of marketing bollocks, water-resistant, to varying degrees.
So, with that in mind, we thought we’d share with you this simple rule book of sorts, to ensure that your watch doesn’t turn into a receptacle for storing H2O

3 BAR / 3 ATM / 30m / 100ft:
In reality, it means that your watch can withstand splashes of water from washing your hands or getting caught in the rain … and that’s about it. It is also imperative that you don’t take a watch with this little water resistance into the shower with you, because steam has an incredibly nasty habit of getting into places you’d never otherwise imagine.

5 BAR / 5 ATM / 50m / 165ft:
The same rules apply as 3ATM really — splashes of water are fine, swimming not fine. Depending on who you ask, some will say that it’s A-OK to wear a 5ATM watch into the shower, but once again I wouldn’t risk it and, if I’m being frank, wearing a watch in the shower just seems like a resolutely silly idea.

10 BAR / 10 ATM / 100m / 330ft:
Now things are starting to get serious — if a watch is rated to 100 meters or 10ATM of water resistance, it means that you can go swimming with it on or even go snorkeling. You’ll find that often a watch rated to 10ATM also has a screw-down crown and/or screw-down case back, which ensures a superior level of water resistance compared to watches that don’t have these features. However, 10ATM doesn’t mean you can go diving 100 meters below sea level while wearing the watch.

20 BAR / 20 ATM / 200m / 660ft:
Once a watch gets to 200 meters or 20ATM of water resistance, then chances are, it’s a fit-for-purpose dive watch. That means that activities like swimming, snorkeling, or even skin diving are completely fine. However, a watch that’s resistant to 20ATM is not good for saturation diving. For that, we have to go, pardon the pun, deeper.

More than 30 BAR / 30 ATM / 300m / 990ft:
Suitable for all high-impact water sports, scuba diving, and saturation diving.

What’s Your Neckline Type?

There are so many beautiful necklaces out there, but how do you choose which one to wear? With graduations, weddings, anniversaries, and engagement parties around the corner, Boundless Collections has several tips on how to choose the right necklace for your neckline.

Before we choose the right necklace for your neckline, it’s important to know what the different kinds of Necklines and Necklace Lengths there are.

Necklace/Chain Lengths

Choker – Chokers are the shortest length, usually between 14-16 inches. Choker necklaces typically sit high or directly on the neck without hanging. Chokers are also back in style now, so they are a popular choice.

Princess – Princess length necklaces have the appeal of lying slightly below the neck, and rest around the collarbone area. Princess length necklaces usually feature a delicate diamond or a bold pendant.

Matinée – A matinée length necklace is typically 20-24 inches long (about twice the length of a choker). These necklaces rest at the bust line.

Opera – Opera length necklaces are 24-32 inches long. Opera length necklaces can be wrapped around twice for a shorter look.

Rope – Anything longer than 32 inches is a rope length necklace. Rope length necklaces are popular for layering with shorter lengths.

Neckline Types

Our Guideline: Right Necklace For The Most Common Necklines

Sweetheart Neckline: A wide round necklace that covers the bare skin looks best.

Turtle or High Neckline: It looks best with longer chain style necklaces.

Halter Neckline: A triangular neckpiece with a pointy end.

Square Neckline: A short choker necklace looks best.

Bateau Neckline: They look best with broader necklaces with layers and volume.

Strapless or off-shoulder Neckline: You have full creativity to go here. But the larger the necklace the better.

V Neckline: This is a catchy area. Wear a necklace in a similar triangular V- shape that ends just above the neckline

One shoulder or Cowl Neckline: It’s best NOT to pair it with any necklace at all. Rather go with big earrings.

Boat Neckline: Go with longer thin necklaces. Or better pair with pendants that reach just above your waist.

Plunging Neckline: Better not take the attention away from the exposed cleavage and bare skin. Opt for heavy earrings instead.

Round Neckline: That’s quite easy. The higher the neckline, the longer the necklace, and vice versa.

Your Handbag vs Your Personality

By looking at the type of handbag and or purse that you carry along, we can tell whether you prefer stability or making wild memories—and, to think, you were just worried if it matched your shoes and the entire outfit. Why a Quartz Timepiece?

Quartz is a kind of movement that causes the second hand for moving in individual ticks and it is powered by a battery. Analog watch with a quartz movement is dominating the clock and wristwatch market since the 1980s. Quartz timepieces are more accurate than the mechanical ones for having the high Q factor and low-temperature coefficient in them.

Benefits and Importance of Having Analog Watch with Quartz Movement:

Maintenance Free: Precision of quartz movement is the biggest advantage of all other movements. A high-quality quartz movement barely changes its direction from the exact time; it will be like only about 1-2 seconds.

Battery Life Endurance: Quartz watches, for being battery-powered, are practically very economical and the life of the battery is high as well.

Cheap: Quartz watches, unlike the mechanical or automatic watches, are less expensive as they require less watch making hours and skills as well.

Easy to Use: As these watches are battery-controlled, they do not need human mediation for ticking continuously.

Watch Durability: An analog watch with a quartz movement possesses a very few moving parts that may need improvisation. That is why it is more durable than a mechanical movement.

Reliable: However, luxury watches wearers prefer mechanical movements in their watches; quartz watches are mostly preferred for their accurate function and reliability.

In every respect, be it less manufacturing cost, high durability or functional accuracy, quartz timepieces provide satisfactory advantages to watch wearers so that they get benefited.

What Your Favorite Earrings Say About You

There are so many choices in earring styles — just go to the jewelry section in any of your favorite stores, and you can find a new pair of earrings to wear every day of the year! But we all have our favorite type of earrings: The ones we continually go back to.

Of course, you’re likely to find that you wear a combination of all these styles, and therefore you possess a combination of each of these personalities — because none of us is just one thing. Nevertheless, here’s what your earring-sign, like your star sign, speaks about you.

Hoops

You are the woman with tons of friends. Your social life is your life. Just like the shape of your earrings, you’re open to new experiences and love meeting new people. You have a big personality, and more than likely, you always have lots to say. Whenever there’s a social gathering, you are typically the life of the party, and with your sass and big smile, it’s no wonder people want to be around you.

Dangling

You have a unique style, but you’re not terribly flamboyant. Just like these earrings, you like more than just the average, but you’re not into extremes. Beads may feature in your dangling style of earrings, and that represents the creative and colorful side to you; the part that appreciates the little things in life and tries hard not to take things for granted. You probably also love to be in nature and appreciate earth tones and handmade jewelry.

Studs

You’re a no fuss type of gal. You enjoy keeping it simple in life, and don’t really have time for frills and fluff. It’s likely that you’re athletic and keep a traditionally “healthy” lifestyle. If, however, you’re the woman who wears multiple studs all the way up her ear, starting at the lobe, you’re probably the type of person who wants it all and doesn’t see why one shouldn’t have it all. There are many facets to your personality, and you know exactly which one to turn on for each occasion.

Unique/Full Ear/Ear Cuffs

Like your earrings, you like to make a statement. It’s likely you do the same with your choice of clothing. You know who you are and you’re not afraid to show it either. Chances are that you’re also creative, with a specific eye for design. You can see the appeal of things in life that others don’t tend to grasp, making you just as unique as your earwear.

Huggy Earrings

It’s almost like you’re the grown up version of a Hoops wearer. In fact, you probably wore hoops when you were younger, but huggies are a bit of a more sophisticated version of the “antiquated” style. That friendly and open personality has turned into a nurturing and motherly persona. You’re dependable. You love tying up loose ends, and more than likely, your life is in order. We all look up to you.

Precious Gems

You appreciate the real deal. You don’t like fake things, and more than likely you can recognize truth and authenticity in life situations. It’s rather possible that, unlike the gauge wearer, you live your life in a more traditional way, having a penchant for financial stability rather than spur-of-the-moment travel. You enjoy hosting and entertaining people in your home, and you probably have a gift for putting on events.
